Struggling to Learn Gypsy jazz?

Have you spent hours practicing with no results?

Have you tried for hours to master a single lick, but still can't play it?

Do you struggle with "La Pompe" or rhythm guitar?

What are your goals?

Like most guitarists who play gypsy jazz, you would probably like to have a nice sound, good right hand technique, be able to improvise, do "La Pompe", and to finally be able to play all the gypsy jazz pieces you like?

You can't always reach your goals on your own.

  • You feel lost among all the possible chord positions, unsure of which ones to use.

  • Your right hand is tense, leading to a poor sound.

  • Scales and arpeggios don't make any sense to you.

  • You struggle to play "la pompe" with a good sound, and you can't swing.

  • You often feel lost and struggle to navigate chord changes.

  • You're unsure where to begin when you pick up your guitar.

  • You're stuck and feel like you've made little to no progress.

Despite your efforts, you still feel lost. You keep playing the same things over and over, and it feels like you're stagnating.

You've already tried numerous methods and exercises—paper methods, YouTube tutorials—but deep down, you know that none of this has truly helped you progress.

I understand—music can be frustrating, and it can make you want to give up at times.

You're going around in circles, and you're on the verge of giving up.

The real problem is a lack of guidance.

You need someone to guide you and explain everything step by step.

What you need is :

  • Someone teaching you progressively and step-by-step with clear objectives that allow you to find your way in your progression

  • Specific advice explained simply by someone who adapts to your problems

  • Understand all the important concepts for playing gypsy jazz: technique, chords, pump, improvisation, arpeggios, etc

  • Be able to ask your questions in order to be sure to understand and progress quickly

That's exactly what you're going to be able to get today!

Any guitarist can learn gypsy jazz : you just need to have someone to teach you the good direction to go.

Who am I to speak about this ?

My name is Jimmy Grant I taught myself to play gypsy jazz in the small, rural town of Durham, California (population 6,337) when I was in high school.

After that, I started working at a grocery store, eventually working my way up to management positions (cutting meat—not the best job for a guitarist!). During this time, I also taught myself gypsy jazz. I had to be efficient with my practice because I was often working 65-80 hours a week!

Because of **how** I practiced, I was able to reach a level where I've traveled the world, performing with some of the best musicians in the style—Paulus Schaefer, Gonzalo Bergara, Olli Soikelli, Tim Kliphuis, and many more.

With my lessons, I won't just teach you the technique to play; I'll also give you the skills to teach yourself to play. I have extensive experience teaching Django Reinhardt's music at universities, music camps, and around the world.

There is no better way to learn and improve then having the guidance you need. I adapt to the students needs, and have keen ears & eyes for how you can improve your playing.

I will listen to you as a musician and really try to solve the problems you have on the guitar.
